This painting started out with a black canvas and a variety of acrylic color washes were then applied and allowed to trickle from the top, down. And then it was on that contrasting background that I then rendered the poppies with a big brush.

Each animal / bird/face is done as an individual piece of art, then carefully blended into the landscape of the rocky/banks of the canyon. The lone canoeist fears the unknown traveling into this valley. The river is wild, and the faces that are imprinted onto the canyon walls are also feeling interrupted by the unwelcome visitor.
